Sycamore Small Wood Bowl/Dish
This is an American Sycamore small wood dish with a bead around the center. It would make a fine candy dish, salsa dish, or just used for display where space might be limited.
American Sycamore is a domestic and non-endangered species (platanus occidentalis ) native to the eastern, midwest, and southern U.S. Its wood has been used extensively for butcher blocks, boxes, and crates. Although coarse-grained and difficult to work, it has also been used to make furniture, siding, and musical instruments.
The piece is signed by the artist on the bottom with pyography and finished in Dr. Ray's Genuine Bee Oil, a completely food-safe mixture of beeswax and mineral oil.
