Red (Shumard) Oak Wood Bowl
This Red Oak wood bowl was made from some cut-offs from a neighbor's tree. I believe this to be a Shumard Oak. I have included photos of the tree and the wood with bark, leaves, and acorns, in case anyone can identify it any better.
Shumard oak is closely related to the Texas red oak, and . It is a domestic and non-endangered species (quercus shumardii) of red oak native to the eastern, miwest, and southern U.S. and southern Canada. Shumard oaks are known to have reached at least 480 years of age.
