Mahogany Small Turned Wood Box with Ebony Finial Finished in Dr. Ray's Super-Shine Friction Polish.

This small lidded box has a shine which will last.  The lid fits just tightly enough to provide a small "pop" when opened.  The ebony had a small lighter-colored defect, which was incorporated into the large bead of the finial.  It could might make a nice urn for a small pet.

Mahogany Small Turned Wood Box with Ebony Finial

This wood lidded box was made from Genuine Mahogany and the finial was turned from Gaboon Ebony.

Genuine Mahogany (swietenia macrophylla) is distributed from southern Mexico to central South America.  Gaboon Ebony (diospyros crassiflora) is native to equatorial west Africa.  It is among the most expensive of all available lumbers.

The piece is signed by the artist on the bottom with pyography and finished in Dr. Ray's SS Friction Polish.
