"Dublin Viking" Bowl in African Rosewood finished in Dr. Ray's Genuine Bee Oil
Dublin Viking Bowl in African Rosewood
Details
Specs
This Rosewood bowl is my own variation of the wooden Viking bowl they uncovered in Dublin, Ireland. I have included a photo of that 1000 year old bowl.
African Rosewood (Machibi, Musibi, Rhodesian Copalwood) wood is an exotic, non-endangered species (guibourtia coleosperma ) native to Africa. The tree is a large evergreen tree with a rich pink heartwood, turning more red then brown with age. The tannins in the raw lumber produce a natural smell of menthol. It is distributed throughout Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Namibia, Zambia, & Zimbabwe.
The piece is signed by the artist on the bottom with pyography and finished in Dr. Ray's Genuine Bee Oil, a completely food-safe mixture of beeswax and mineral oil.
